History of the team
In 2010 the Parker Cross Country team was approximately 20-30 runners. The team would occasionally win Conference meets. In 2014 the boys and girls teams both missed making state and the team went on a mission to improve. Many fantastic local coaches were kind enough to help the team make a number of changes and since 2015 the team has won all 4 levels at the Conference meet. The boys and girls teams have both made state the last 4 seasons and are one of only 3 teams at the 3A level in IESA to make the state meet the last 4 years (Batavia Rotolo and New Lenox Martino being the others). In 2019, the boys had their first 2 All-State Runners with Habtamu Epley and John Hockenberry placing 4th and 7th place overall and the boys won their first trophy placing 3rd. The girls had an excellent season and were led by Naima Douglas placing 3rd overall in a school record time and the school's highest place ever.
Warm up routine
We believe that warming up before workouts and races is important and utilize the lunge matrix and leg swings in addition to some jogging and strides.
